My daughter wanted to go to Chick-fil-A but was reluctant because she heard there was a boycott because the owner was homophobic. We went, it turns out that there is no longer a boycott. Here are 10 things I learned about Chick-fil-A:
1. “We didn’t invent the chicken, just the chicken sandwich”- S. Truett Cathy, founder.
2. They serve fresh-squeezed lemonade.
3. They are closed on Sundays.
4. The store I went to in Pflugerville, Texas had a display of the Texas state flag flown at the capital which was presented to the owner/operator in honor of the store’s opening in 2009.
5. It started at the Dwarf Grill, a diner in Atlanta, Georgia.
6. The first official Chick-fil-A was at Atlanta’s Greenbriar Mall in 1986.
7. It is one of the largest privately owned restaurant chains in the United States.
8. There are more than 2,000 locations.
9. In 2012, the COO, Dan Cathy, admitted that he was opposed to same-sex marriage. In 2014 he someone recanted stating “I think that’s a political debate that’s going to rage on. And the wiser thing for us to do is to stay focused on customer service.
10. They have an app, free refills, crushed ice and catering.
Peace, love, gratitude, compassion, and blessings.
