I have known MacArthur more than 16 years.  He was the co-publisher/editor of the now defunct OG Arise and over the years I was a contributing editor, managing editor, and features editor.

Mac is responsible for my first keynote speech, he sent me to a conference.  I don’t remember what I spoke about and it was before Facebook.

MacArthur self identifies as Mexican-American, a southern black with roots in Louisiana.  He also identifies as a father, grandfather, son, brother and a black gay man who is spiritual as distinguished fro religious.

His work is all about liberation of self, emotions,  and family.  He focuses on racial and social justice, moving away from privilege, moving towards inclusion.  Avoiding silos and working towards intersectional justice.

On social media he has been called a “Facebook preacher”.  He uses social media to connect and build relationships.  It is a mechanism, a tool, an end goal.

He is pictured above with me and his dog, Apollo.

See MacArthur on Black Renaissance.

Peace, love, gratitude, compassion, and blessings.
